In the process of helping someone buy or sell a property, you will often perform unscheduled activities or incur expenses on behalf of your client. In Top Producer 8i, these are referred to as "service activities." The Listings and Closings features of 8i include the ability to record these actions after you have performed them and then create detailed reports. These reports can be printed, saved as a PDF document and emailed, or uploaded to your client's specific Customer Web Page.
It is important to distinguish between service activities and scheduled activities. The essential difference is that scheduled activities are activities that you have scheduled for some time in the future (and are usually scheduled by applying a listing services checklist), while the service activities feature is designed to record details about minor activities after you have performed them. For this reason, you will never see a service activity displayed in your Calendar or Activity Summary; they are services that you have already performed.
While scheduled listing and closing activities are not "service activities" they can still be added to your service reports. Every time you mark a listing activity or a closing activity done, you are offered the option of adding it to the next scheduled service report.
Note: "Showings" are a unique form of service activity which can be scheduled ahead of time rather than entered after the fact. See About Showings for details.
