Keeping a closing's status updated has a number of trickle-down effects within Top Producer 8i:
Changing the status to "Closed/Paid" or "Fell Thru" will trigger the Do Not Show Activities in Calendar and Activities Summary option, giving you the option of removing any incomplete tasks from the My Business portlet and the Activities Summary table.
If you have a listing linked to the closing and you change the status to anything other than "Fell Thru", the listing's status will automatically change to the same status you assigned to the closing.
If you have a listing linked to the closing and you change the closing status to "Fell thru", the listing will be unlinked from the closing and its status will be changed to "Expired".
If you change the closing status to "Closed/Paid", you can transfer the property from the seller to the buyer.
To update a closing's status:
Open the Closing
Info tab. How?
Click the Status field.
The field is now editable.
Select the desired Status.
If the new status is "Fell Thru" or "Closed/Paid", it is recommended that you select the Do not show activities in Calendar and Activities Summary check box. This option prevents all incomplete activities from appearing in your activities tables.
If the new status is "Closed/Paid", it is recommended that you transfer the property and apply a long-term after-sale plan to the new buyer.
Click the Save Closing Information button.
