Converting your Entire 6i Database

Perform a full data conversion if you are a new Top Producer 8i user and want to convert your entire 6i database, or your previous attempt to convert your data failed.

tip_icon2.gif Tip:  Depending on the size of your database, the conversion process can take a considerable time to complete. Therefore, it is recommended that you perform the conversion at a time when you will not need to use your computer.

To convert your entire 6i desktop database:

  1. Complete the steps outlined in the Before Converting Your Top Producer 6i Data topic before starting the conversion.

  2. Double-click the Top Producer Data Conversion icon on your desktop. If you do not have the icon on your desktop, download the Data Conversion Wizard.

    The Welcome to the Top Producer Data Conversion Wizard window opens.

  3. Click Next.

  4. If any assistants are detected in your Top Producer 6i desktop application, the Assistants detected window appears. Before you convert your data, you should create an assistant record in Top Producer 8i first. If you don't, any activities assigned to the assistant will be assigned to you. Otherwise, click Next to proceed.

  5. Select the agent whose Top Producer 6i desktop application database(s) you want to convert. Select the agent's name, and enter a password (if applicable). Click Next.

  6. If you have multiple desktop databases, the Select database(s) to convert window opens. More Info:triangle.gif

  7. In the Data Conversion Wizard - Top Producer login window, type in your Top Producer 8i Username and Password and click Next.

  8. If you have previously tried to convert your data and the conversion was not successful, the Data conversion recovery window opens. More Info:triangle.gif

  9. If you have not entered an email address in Top Producer 8i My Account, the Appointment reminder email address window opens. If you want your Top Producer 6i appointment reminders to be converted to Top Producer 8i, enter an email address. Click Next to continue.

    The How do you want to convert your data? window opens.

  10. Select Perform a full conversion of my Top Producer desktop database.

  11. In the Data Conversion Wizard - Conversion notification email address window, enter your personal email address (not your email address for Top Producer 8i) then click Next.

    Email will be sent informing you when the conversion has begun and when it has finished.

  12. The Data Conversion Wizard - Converting your data window displays the progress of the data upload. If you have a large Top Producer 6i database(s), this may take a while.

    Note:  Do not run the Top Producer Data Conversion Wizard again, or sign in to Top Producer 8i, until you have been notified by email that the data has been successfully converted.

  13. When the data upload is finished, click Close in the Data transmitted successfully dialog box. Now that your data has been uploaded to Top Producer, it will be placed in a queue awaiting conversion. The time required to convert your data will depend on a number of factors. If you do not receive an email within 24 hours stating that the conversion was successful, then contact Top Producer Technical Support to find out the status of your conversion.

  14. You may sign in and begin using Top Producer 8i after you have received an email notification advising you that the data conversion was successful. Any data that could not be converted into a specific field due to data type inconsistencies will be placed into the relevant Notes field of the contact record.
