Rulers provide an easy way of making sure that your text and page elements are aligned along common measurements. For Letter templates, rulers also provide an easy method of viewing and adjusting the page margins.
Note: This topic does not apply to email templates.
To view your rulers (all templates):
Open the Edit Personal Copy screen.
How?
For presentation templates, click Edit Page. Otherwise, proceed to step 3.
Click the Preferences icon to view your current template preference settings.
Select the Show Rulers check box to display your rulers.
Rulers appear at the top and left side of the page. You can use these rulers to set up guidelines for lining up your other page elements.
To adjust your margins using rulers (Letter templates only):
The darker areas at the ends of each ruler show you the margin settings. To adjust a margin, hover your mouse over the edge of a margin area. The pointer will change to a double-ended arrow. Simply click and drag the arrow pointer to change the margin.
Adjust your top, bottom, left and right margins to ensure that you don't overlap your headers and footers or place text in unprintable areas.
