Configuring Listing Upload Destinations

Before listing information can be exported via the listing upload feature you must configure a connection for Top Producer 8i to use to determine the recipient of the listing information. You can configure the recipient to be FTP- or HTTP-based, a RETSReal Estate Exchange Transaction System server, or an email address.

Note: While destinations are referred to within Top Producer 8i as "websites", in this context the term is being used to collectively refer to any export destination: website, email address, FTP server, or RETS server.

To configure a destination for listing uploads:

1. Open the Configure Websites subtab. How?

   1. From the [User name] menu in the top right, select Settings. Example:

      

   2. Click the Listings & Closings tab.

   3. Click the Configure Websites subtab.

2. Click the Add Website action link.

3. In the Website name text box, type a descriptive name for the destination. You can use the URL itself, but you may want to enter a more meaningful name such as "My personal website" to identify the destination.

4. Under Upload method, select one of the following options for your listing upload destination:

   • Upload listing using FTP More Info:

     Select this option if the destination supports direct upload methods and can accept your listing data via FTP.

   • Upload listing using HTTP-POST More Info:

     Select this option if the destination supports direct upload methods and can accept your listing data via HTTP.

   • Send listing via Email More Info:

     Select this option if the destination does not support direct upload methods and your listing data will be sent via email to the webmaster, who will update your website.

   • Upload listing to RETS server More Info:

     Select this option if the destination supports the Real Estate Transaction Standard (RETS) protocol.

5. The upload method option you selected in step 2 determines which text fields are available to you.

   3. If you selected Upload listing using FTP More Info:

      • Enter the location of the FTP server in the FTP URL text box (for example, ftp.servername.com).

      • Enter the Username and Password if it is required by the destination.

   4. If you selected Upload listing using HTTP-POST More Info:

      • Enter the location of the host application on the HTTP web server in the HTTP-POST URL field. For example, www.topproduceronline.com/website.

      • Enter the Username and Password if it is required by the destination.

   5. If you selected Send listing via email More Info:

      • Enter the Email address of the person responsible for updating the destination, usually the webmaster.

   6. If you selected Upload listing to RETS server More Info:

      • Enter the RETS server URL.

      • Enter the Username and Password if required by the destination.

6. Select the Active status radio button.

7. Click the Add Website button.

Note: When pushing listings to your configured websites, the listing will be pushed to ALL websites that are active.
